About

Burrito Project Toronto

In 2015, the directors of ARK II – Canadian Animal Rights Network noticed a troubling gap in our local landscape: a lack of consistent outreach and active compassion for the under-housed members of our community. While our foundation is built on advocating for animals, we recognized that we could not ignore the vulnerability and hunger existing in our own neighbourhoods.

Driven by the desire to give back to the neighbourhoods where we live, work, and campaign, we launched Burrito Project Toronto. By preparing and distributing fresh, hearty vegan burritos, we aim to nourish our neighbours while staying true to our vegan ethics.

A Growing Movement of Solidarity

We are proud to be part of a larger, decentralized network of volunteer groups dedicated to bring warm nutritious food directly to under-housed members of our community. While the concept originally took root in Los Angeles, it has since blossomed into a powerful North American initiative with over 30 active locations.

Today, this spirit of service can be found in numerous cities, including:

Canada: Toronto, ON; Montreal, QC.

California: Los Angeles, South Pasadena, Long Beach, San Diego, Bakersfield, San Francisco.

Across the US: Salt Lake City, UT; Kansas City, MO; Lake Worth, FL; Reno, NV.

Why Intersectional Activism Matters

For ARK II, this project is rooted in the principle of intersectional activism. We believe that our accountability and compassion must extend to all marginalized groups. By joining this global network of like-minded activists, we are proving that simple, direct action—like sharing a meal—can bridge the gap between animal advocacy and human welfare.

Through this project, we strive to build a more inclusive and compassionate city—one burrito at a time.
